About Money Skills

Money is complicated.Learning it shouldn't be.

Money Skills is a software company building a financial education and planning platform. We are early, and we would rather say that plainly than pretend otherwise.

Financial capability can be learned.

People are not permanently divided into those who are good with money and those who are not.

Financial capability develops the way any other capability does — through education, tools, practice, planning, experience, and better decisions made over time. That is the whole premise of the company, and it is why Money Skills is being built as a platform rather than a library of articles.

Our mission

Help people build the knowledge, skills, tools and confidenceto make better financial decisions.

Four principles we build against.

These are the arguments we have with ourselves when we are deciding what to build and what to leave out.

Education before complexity

Explain the why, not just the answer. A tool that produces a number without teaching anything leaves the person exactly as capable as they were before.

Progress over perfection

Better decisions made consistently matter more than chasing financial perfection. Most of the value is in the first few sensible steps, not the last optimisation.

Capability over dependency

Money Skills should help people become more capable, not make their financial decisions feel more dependent on a platform. If someone outgrows us, we did our job.

Practical over theoretical

Financial knowledge becomes valuable when people can apply it to their own circumstances. Everything we build has to survive contact with a real situation.

The mark means what the company means.

The Money Skills symbol is six modules in three ascending columns. Individual skills accumulate into greater financial capability — one, then two, then three. It is the same idea the company is built on, which is why we did not need a chart or an arrow to say it.
