Terms of Use
These terms apply to your use of moneyskills.com. The short version: everything here is educational, none of it is advice about your particular situation, and the platform we describe is still being built.
This is a Money Skills-specific draft for an early-stage informational and product website. It has not been reviewed by counsel. The governing law and legal entity sections are deliberately unresolved rather than guessed, and are listed for you below.
Acceptance of these terms
By using moneyskills.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
These terms cover this website. When the Money Skills platform becomes available, using it will involve additional terms presented at sign-up, which will govern accounts, subscriptions where they exist, and the courses and tools themselves.
Educational purpose
Money Skills exists to help people understand personal finance and build financial capability. Everything published on this website, and everything planned for the platform, is educational and informational in nature.
Our courses are designed to explain how financial concepts work. Our tools are designed to let you apply those concepts to figures you enter yourself, so that you can see how the arithmetic behaves under different assumptions. Neither is a substitute for professional advice about your circumstances.
Not individualized financial advice
Money Skills does not provide individualized financial, investment, tax, legal, insurance or accounting advice. We are not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, tax preparer, accountant, law firm or insurance producer, and no relationship of that kind is created by your use of this site or the platform.
Nothing on this website is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security, to use any particular financial product, to take on or pay down any specific debt, or to make any specific financial decision. Where our content or tools describe approaches — for example, different ways of ordering debt repayments — they are explaining how those approaches work, not telling you which one you should choose.
For advice about your own situation, consult a qualified professional who can take your full circumstances into account.
Your responsibility
Financial decisions are yours. You are responsible for the figures and assumptions you enter into any Money Skills tool, for verifying anything important before you act on it, and for the outcomes of decisions you make.
Money Skills does not connect to, monitor, or take action on your financial accounts, and does not execute transactions, transfers or trades on your behalf.
Calculators, projections and assumptions
Money Skills tools will produce estimates, projections and scenario comparisons. Every one of them depends on the inputs and assumptions used, and those assumptions are simplifications of a complicated world.
- Projections are illustrative. They are not predictions, promises or guarantees of any future result.
- Actual outcomes will differ, sometimes substantially, because of investment returns, inflation, interest rates, taxes, fees, changes in law, changes in your circumstances, and events nobody modelled.
- Past performance does not indicate future results.
- Figures shown anywhere on this website as examples are illustrative only and do not describe any real person's finances.
Where a tool compares two courses of action, it is comparing the assumptions you supplied. It is not determining which is optimal for you.
Product availability
The courses and tools described on this website are part of the Money Skills product roadmap. They are under development. They are not currently available, are not offered for sale, and nothing on this site constitutes an offer to sell them.
Descriptions of planned functionality reflect current intent and may change. Features may be added, altered or dropped as the platform is built. Any illustrative interface shown on this site — including the conceptual product screens on the homepage and the sign-in page — is a design concept rather than working software.
Accounts and sign-in
Money Skills accounts do not exist yet. The sign-in page on this website is interface design for a feature under development. Nothing you type into it is transmitted or stored, no credentials are checked, and the third-party sign-in options shown are not connected to any provider.
When accounts become available, you will be responsible for the accuracy of your registration details and for keeping your credentials secure, and additional account terms will be presented at sign-up.
Pricing and purchases
The prices published on our pricing page describe the current Money Skills product plan. They are not an offer to sell, they may change before launch, and nothing on this website can be purchased today. There is no checkout and no payment method is collected anywhere.
When purchasing becomes available, the terms that apply to payments, subscription renewal, cancellation and refunds will be presented at the point of sale and will govern that transaction.
Intellectual property
The Money Skills name, the Money Skills logo and symbol, the content of this website, and the course and tool material we publish are owned by Money Skills or used under licence, and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws.
You may read, print and share this site for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, republish, sell, or create derivative works from our content, or use our name or marks, without written permission.
Photography on this site is licensed from third parties for our use, and is not licensed to you.
Acceptable use
Please do not:
- Use the site in any way that breaks the law or infringes anyone's rights.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its infrastructure, or any account.
- Interfere with the operation of the site, including through automated traffic that degrades it for other people.
- Scrape or harvest content or data at scale, or copy material for use in a competing product.
- Misrepresent yourself as Money Skills, or imply an endorsement or relationship that does not exist.
Third-party services and links
This site is delivered using third-party infrastructure, and may link to third-party websites. We do not control those services or sites, we are not responsible for their content or practices, and a link is not an endorsement. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.
Communications
If you contact us, you agree that we may reply to you at the address you used.
The platform is being designed to support optional email and mobile notifications relating to your courses, goals, plans, account and security, and financial tasks you have asked to be reminded about. These will require opt-in, will be controllable, and can be stopped at any time. Service and security messages relating to an account you hold may continue while that account is open. How this works is described in our Privacy Policy.
Disclaimers
This website is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Money Skills disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty that the site will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free.
We work to keep the content accurate and current, but we do not warrant that it is complete, accurate or up to date. Financial rules, rates, limits and tax treatment change, and content may lag behind those changes.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Money Skills and its officers, employees and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, savings, data, goodwill or investment losses, arising out of or relating to your use of this website — whether or not we were advised such damages were possible.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
The liability cap, indemnity, dispute resolution and any arbitration or class-action provisions have deliberately not been drafted here. They are commercially significant and should be written by counsel rather than assembled from convention.
Changes to the site and these terms
We may change or discontinue any part of this website at any time, and we will update these terms as the platform develops. When we do, we will change the date at the top. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. If a change is material, we will give notice appropriate to the change.
Governing law
The governing law and venue for these terms have not yet been set.
This section cannot be completed until the Money Skills legal entity and its state of formation are confirmed. We have deliberately not named a jurisdiction rather than guess at one, since choosing the wrong state is worse than leaving the section open.
